Welcome to our World
By Jamie Heiberger-Harrison
This is a bittersweet time to launch a new media endeavor. While I’ve felt terrible about the hardships that COVID-19 unleashed across society, I haven’t had time to be upset. As a small business owner and a mother of three, I, like so many others, had to rethink how my firm would survive and thrive in a post-pandemic world.
Some context and background: I started Heiberger & Associates (H&A) in 1996 with a focus on landlord-tenant real estate transactions. I was young and relentless, and actively built a robust client roster throughout the five boroughs. In 2005, I added a closing division to diversify and expand the practice.
As a New Yorker, I’m no stranger to crises and have learned to roll with the punches. My practice endured 9/11 and emerged stronger thanks to relationships that were forged during the most difficult of circumstances through hard work and commitment. My clients always knew I would do anything for them and when it mattered most, they paid me back with their trust, and their business.
When COVID-19 arrived, it was clear the new normal would look and feel very different. In addition to the quarantine and social distancing, the way we interacted daily and conducted our business—the communication, socializing, thought provocation and lead generation—was no longer available to our community through normal channels.
As I spoke with thought-leaders in my network—my mentors, colleagues and people I looked up to—and began to absorb their insights, I realized how valuable that content would be for the broader New York real estate audience. It was then that I decided to launch The Real Estate Community Forum to help educate, enlighten and connect our industry, while raising money for front-line responders to the crisis.
So welcome to our new website! In addition to the community forums, this platform will host our blog, which will touch on a wide array of pertinent real estate topics, as well as my full schedule of continuing education classes. I’m not going to lie—this whole tech thing is new ground for me, but I’ve always embraced challenges and have enjoyed learning about everything from Zoom to Zapier to Mailchimp.
The feedback thus far has been incredible, so thank you for that and thank you for your continued support. I am incredibly fortunate to be able to do what I love with people I respect while serving the greater good, and I am excited for the opportunity to be more, do more and become more.
I welcome your questions, suggestions, emails and calls, and I look forward to the time when we can again share a smile in person, toast a glass of wine, and enjoy a dinner in the big city. Until then, be well, be safe and be grateful!
With Love & Law,
